The intertexuality is displayed through media language. For example, the colour palette of bright yellow and green immediately connote an emergency or alert. This has been used to refer to homelessness as the emergency is but isn't always viewed as. This is furthered with the spin on the national message of 'stay home, protect the NHS, save lives'. The language is easily digestible but very effective in it's impact. The fact the whole world is facing Covid-19 and the whole country is seeing this slogan, makes the message more inclusive, suggesting everyone needs to act on it. This intertexuality has been possible with no specific house style of The Big Issue. It means the producer can use what is specifically relevant at the time to push ideologies efficiently. It allows them to stay up to date and ultimately seen by those who are attracted to what is referenced, in this case, the Covid-19 awareness.
