- not as accessible as trailers are now (new tech/new audience)
- based on books - expectation to have read it

JB 2016 Trailer:
- showed famous actors/celebrity endorsement
- past productions
- director
- suspense/darker twist
- quick
- iconic song whistle at the end - emotive for original audience
- more advanced animation - adapted technology
- different moods - camera angles, lighting
- more listed ways to watch it

History of Disney: 
1. Early animation (1927 - 1940s)
- 1927 disney began animated films - Oswald the lucky rabbit - Mortimer mouse - Mickey Mouse (led their dominance)
- 1937 Snow White with world wide success - made deposit for 51 acres for studio - wanted to provide essentials for production
- Limited Animation to minimum (criticised)
- Pinocchio + Fantasia (1940) = more advanced and detailed. Dumbo (‘41) + Bambi (‘42) all brought together composition, comedy, adventure, horror.

2. 1940s - 1960s - the move to live action 
- 1941 3 month strike from top animators - forced to resign - concentrated on smaller cartoons + live action. Lengthen (1950) for Cinderella, Alice in wonderland - fine efforts but many thought of a lack of dimension. Lady and the tramp brought it back for them. Disneyland opened 1955 (California)
- 1950s included sound stages + production craft facilities for live action. Mary Poppins (1964) - 5 Academy Awards + Oscar for Julie Andrews.
- interior scenes - stage 1 original lot was in 1940, stage 2 1949 for Dragnet. 1954 stage 3 with water tank for leagues under the sea, stage 4 1958 - diced into 2 for 4&5.

3. 1960s - 1990s Disney after the death of Walt Disney
- Walt Disney died 15/12/1966 - 1965 he bought 43 acres in Florida for world Resort. Roy Disney took over - opened 1971. 1970s - 80s = still produced films
1989 little mermaid, ‘91 beauty + beast, ‘92 Aladdin, ‘94 lion king.
Animation developed with toy story 1&2 (1995 - 99) - producing Pixar animation studios
Disney cruise ‘98 offering vacation to Caribbean.
Disney channel with ABC and ESPN. Stage adaption of Beauty and the beast and the lion king. End of 20th Century = one of worlds largest conglomerates.

4. 21st century and expansions
Disney theme parks are continuously opened in Paris and Tokyo. car arcades in Orlando, 115m people visited Disney attractions world wide.
WDC bought Pixar 2006 for $7.48b (finding nemo,ratatouille, Wall.E) academy awards.
Pirates of the Caribbean 2003 - based on Disney theme park ride - more than $3.7b worldwide.
Bought marvel entertainments $4b 2009 - produced line of films Avengers 2012 - creating live actions
2012 bought Lucasfilm for $4b - bought Star Wars with instalments 2015.
20th Century Fox for $66b for 2017.
