Post Colonial Theory - Paul Gilroy

British empire - US, Africa, Asia (India), Japan etc - biggest empire known
Proud? - a lot are proud of the position Britain was in and what they owned, how they performed in the war but it came with flaws and faults like using slavery and white dominance.

Political conflict which characterise multicultural societies is linked to our imperial and colonial history. - Gilroy connects domestic conceptions of race, racism, immigrants, and national identity to its imperial reach, affecting both newcomer and native born alike.
- everlasting argument that white people are dominant and are born to be in power.
- WW2 era Britain obscures reality of modern, multicultural Britain ( worship of the time Britain was great).
- affects not only white but also POC (hard to shake off the effects of racism) even new generations feel it.
