Analyse the representations constructed in sources A and B. Use any relevant gender theorist.

Intro:
Sources A and B belong to the papers from different sub-genres and have different values and audiences which will have a big effect on the representations constructed. For example, The Sun is a tabloid for the C2DE audience, meaning it's representation's will lean more towards stories of comedic value with simpler interpretations, in this case of Harry and Meghan. Their audience expects to be informed, however this can be through light-hearted amusement. As The Sun is conservative, its audience are too. Therefore, they expect to see content supporting their favoured party while diminishing others such as Labour. Whereas, The Telegraph is a broadsheet for the ABC1 audience, meaning its representations will consist of more serious stories which are politically acclaimed for their audiences leaning. The Telegraph again is conservative but caters for an older more academically achieved audience so they expect the same morals but more insight and seriousness to their information. Van Zoonan argues that gender is more 'what we do' rather than 'what we are'. This means those with the viewpoint of supporting the patriarchy and sexualising women actually opt for femininity being a weaker trait to masculinity. Therefore, the feminine and sexualised females in the newspapers (The Sun & The Telegraph) are constructed specifically to be weaker.
